Makrut | Kaffir Lime Leaves, Ground

Makrut lime trees are small trees with long sharp thorns, knobbly green fruits and unusual double leaves. Both the zest of the fruit and the leaves have a slightly different, but equally wonderful, scent and flavour that is unlike any other citrus. The leaves (fresh leaves are usually available at South China Seas) are carefully dried, as ours are, then ground. This ground version still retains flavour and fragrance. Use in stir-fries, soups and curries – especially those with a coconut milk base.
